Welcome to my world...!!

thank you for allowing me to share a part of my life, my world, with you.

Sandy Hook ...

I'm not sure how this will turn out ... I have so many thoughts rushing through my head, and I have a hard time sorting them out.  bear with me.

Like the rest of the country, like the rest of the world, I am hurting so much today.  I can absolutely not wrap my mind around what happened yesterday.  It's too surreal.  I want it to be a dream.  But, sadly, it is not.

How anyone can do this?  To those innocent little babies.  I'm sure if you ask any five year old, they will inform you they are NOT a baby; they are most definitely big.  But we adults know they are babies.

I keep thinking back to when my own children were that age.  I can still see their little five year old faces.  I remember taking them to school at that age.  My daughter was the oldest.  When I would take her to school, I could not simply drop her off through the car pool line.  My son was three at the time, and he still sat in his car seat.  My mornings were not spent getting myself ready.  My mornings were spent getting my kids up, and getting Jenni ready for school.  After I dropped her off at school, then Marshall and I would go back home, and we would get ready for our day.  Needless to say, many mornings I looked like death warmed over.  So we would all climb into our SUV, and I would drive up to the school.

I would get ready to go through the car pool line, and Jenni would say, "Please come with me.  Please.  I can't open the door."

"Jenni", I would say, "You can open the door.  Just give it a pull."  (I didn't want to have to get out and see anyone considering how NOT good I looked, and I didn't want to have to park and get Marshall out of his car seat.)

"No, mommy.  I can't. Please."

Now anyone with kids knows exactly what I did.  I parked that vehicle, got my son out of his car seat and walked my little girl to her classroom where I opened the door for her.  My little girl wasn't embarassed by my appearance.  To her, I was mommy, and she could count on me to help her.  She knew I was there for her.

And believe me, there were so many mornings all I wanted to do was drop her off through that car pool line.  It would have been so much easier.  But she was my little girl, and I was her mommy.  And all too quickly, she grew up, and she opened that door, and she no longer asked me to walk her to her classroom.  But not when she was five.  That came later....

So I keep thinking of both of my kids when they were in kindergarten.  When they were five.  And I picture their faces.  Their innocence.  Their smiles. Their laughter.  Their Christmas program.  Their Christmas clothes.  And I cry.....

I was talking to my daughter, and I told her how I was thinking back to when she and Marhsall were in kindergarten, and the first thing that popped out of her mouth was, "I couldn't even open the door."

And some of these kids could probably not open their door.  And some of these kids could probably not tie their shoes.  And some of these kids could probably not color within the lines or cut straight with their little scissors.  And probably all of these kids were looking forward to Christmas or Hannukah or Winter Break ....... and then their world got shattered.  Evil walked into that school and shattered their world.  Their dreams.  Their lives.

And I cannot wrap my mind around this.  The only way, the ONLY way I can even come close to dealing with this, with thinking about this is because I know that when evil walked into that school, God was already there.  I know that when evil took the lives of those babies, Jesus took their souls.

Years ago I had a cousin who died in a horrific accident.  My cousin and I were quite close, and when I heard of his death, I fell apart ... but when I heard about how he died, I really lost it.  I hated the thought of what my cousin had gone through.  What his last moments had been.  I was discussing this with a beautiful Christian woman, and I will forever remember what she said to me.  She said, "Lisa, you don't know when God took his soul. God knew what was going to happen.  Perhaps God took him to Heaven before the crash."  Now I don't know.  I have no idea when God grabs our souls out of our bodies, but she made me think.  And she gave me a new perspective.  And I grabbed onto that thought and I hung on.

I have no idea what these little innocents went through, but I do know that as their lives were taken on this earth, Jesus was there hugging them, comforting them and holding them, and I know Jesus took them and placed them in the lap of their Father.  And I know they are in Heaven where they will weep no more.

And that is the ONLY way I can deal with this.

I cannot imagine what these parents are going through.  My heart breaks for them.
I cannot imagine going to a house decorated for the holidays.  A house full of happiness. A closet full of toys waiting for Christmas. Memories shattered.
I will pray, but they will hurt.  And they will hurt for a long time.
And their Christmases will never be the same.  But I will pray that with time and with God they will find peace, that they will find joy.

but it won't be for a long, long time.

My Mary Kay

Today I am thankful for my Mary Kay....

I absolutely LOVE this product. If it were up to me, every woman would be using/wearing this product. I have found every one of the Mary Kay products do what they claim...and more. My skin has never felt so good or looked so good. (I have been told I look younger now than I did a few years ago.)

Many know this company was started by one woman, but fe
w know of the many obstacles and challenges she faced along the way. All the reasons she should NOT have started this company. But Mary Kay had a mother who her entire life, whenever Mary Kay faced a challenge, always told her, "I know you can do this, Mary Kay." And little Mary Kay would go out and face her challenges and her obstacles. So when life told her all the reasons she should NOT start this company, Mary Kay claimed those same words from her mother, and SHE DID IT. (If you get a chance, read her story. She inspired so so many people with her values and principles and work ethic.)

I am thankful for the amazing women this opportunity has placed into my life. One of the things my Director told me when I first started this journey was that I would meet amazing women, and she was absolutely correct. Whether they be customers or sister consultants or directors or NSD's, this 'job' has placed many, many kind, gentle, inspiring, fun, caring, helpful women into my life. In Mary Kay you are in business for yourself, but you are never by yourself. One of the amazing things about this company is that the only way anyone moves ahead in this company is by helping others and bringing them ahead with you. How refreshing is that in a world where in most businesses in order to get ahead, one must jump over others to get ahead. Not in Mary Kay. Not at all.

I have not built the team I hope to build, nor have I made the money I hope to make, but that's my own fault. I haven't worked my Mary Kay as hard as I could. (which is another amazing thing about this company, Mary Kay encourages each woman to work her business the way she wants; the way it fits into her individual life) But I have gotten so much more from my Mary Kay business than anything money can buy. First and foremost is the friends this company has brought into my life, (previous paragraph), but I have grown so much as a person as I have been on this journey. This company has taught me to step out of my comfort zone and discover sides of my personality I never knew existed. I have grown stronger and more confident, and you can not put a price tag on that.

Oh, even with all I have said, I could say so much more about my Mary Kay, and all my sister consultants I'm sure would agree .... but I will forever be thankful to God and toBeth Hirsch Lange for bringing Mary Kay to my life and me to Mary Kay.......!!

and, I also must mention that whenever I have a really bad day and I decide to visit "Pity City", I have a husband who looks me straight in the eyes and tells me that I can do this....no matter what "this" is on any particular day,Mark Geiger encourages me and is my biggest fan and supporter.

Day 16 ... Today I'm thankful for alcohol. Sometimes I really do just want a nice cold frosty beer, especially on a cold winter day. (OK, a cool winter South Texas day) Some nights a glass of wine is nice. Sipping (yeah, like I 'sip') on some Bailey's Irish Cream is yummy. Crown XR ..... mmmmm
and some nights just call for drinking nicely chilled cheap champagne out on the back porch with your husband and a fire surrounded by all of your furry babies.
Day 15 .... (yes, I am a day behind)
all those little comforts we take for granted. Today I'm thankful for them.
I have a roof over my head. A nice roof at that. It's not big. It's not fancy. But it's comfy and it's cozy and it's home. And it has a bed. At night I get to crawl into that bed with two cats and sometimes a husband and I get to nestle and snuggle and fall peacefully asleep.
And
it has indoor plumbing. I can shower and brush my teeth and other things anytime I want. Anytime I need.
And it has a kitchen. That has electricity. And food. And I never go hungry .... unless I choose to.
And it has a yard. And even though the grass and weeds can drive me crazy, I have a yard. For my doggies. And my chickens.
And I'm happy. And I'm comfortable. And not everyone has a roof or a bed or indoor plumbing or food.
And I do.
And I'm thankful.

Day 14 .... Sadly, some people are raised in a home with a mom and a dad and their siblings. I feel a bit sorry for them. This was NOT the life for me, and I think mine ROCKED.
You know how sometimes the smallest things in life can become the biggest? The summer before I was to enter the second grade, 'the three of us' moved out of our little apartment on Bomar and into a HUGE apartment in the
Storybook Apartment Complex. I mean, while this one still only had one bathroom, it had two (count 'em...TWO!) bedrooms. Kristi and I would no longer have to share a room with our mom. Our mom would no longer have to sleep on the couch. Sing along with me..."Well we're moving on up...!!"
Little did any of us know how much this move would change our lives. But God did. God placed us right smack next door to Lucy (a divorced mother) and her two daughters Karen and Kathryn. And all of us girls were quite close in age; Kristi and Kathryn both being born in 1961, me being born in the best year, and Karen following in '63. We all hit it off immediately. Instead of having a family with a mom and dad and a house ... we got two moms, instant siblings and two attached apartments. I was in their apartment every bit as much as I was in my own. I was disciplined by Lucy every bit as much as I was disciplined by my own mother. And I know that goes for everyone else as well. Karen, Kathryn and Lucy became our family, and we became theirs.
Most of the time, Kristi and Kathryn were running buddies, because, let's face it, they were so much more mature than me and Karen. And most of the time, Karen and I were running buddies, because we were so much more fun than those two snooty older ones. But on any given day, with just the right fight, the dynamics easily changed.
Our moms became best friends as well. After work the two of them would feed us the proverbial pot pie (mmm!) or tuna noodle casserole (ick!), and then they would sit out on the back porch smoking their cigarettes, drinking their adult beverages, and listening to (who else?) Kris Kristofferson. They would talk about their days, their dreams, their defeats. And they would sit on that back porch overlooking that empty field with that warehouse sticking out like a sore thumb, and they would talk, and they would drink and they would notice how much it bugged the crap out of them that someone had mispelled "warehouse". The sign read "wharehouse". And of course, there is no "H" in "warehouse", but low and behold, there is an "H" in "whorehouse", so with a bit of paint and a bit of alcohol, our mothers fixed the sign. (I think this is where we all get our need to edit.... we came by it honestly. We got it from our mothers) And we lived this way for a few years, and then we moved. We all moved into an even HUGER apartment. This time we moved into Brookwood apartments where we not only had two bedrooms, but we now had two bathrooms!! And my mom got married. And even though we lived in the same complex, we no longer lived next door. We no longer shared a common wall. And eventually Lucy would remarry and move to a house. And we would eventually move to a house. But we have stayed forever friends. Forever family.
Sadly, Lucy is no longer with us. She died a few years ago. I remember being at that hospital with Lucy and my mom. Lucy had just been moved to a new room. Lucy's chart and belongings hadn't made the transition yet, but we had. Lucy's mouth was dry. Desperately dry. In her gravelled voice she was asking for water. My mom told me to go to the nurse's station and get a cup of water. I tried, but I was told that they hadn't received her chart yet, and once they checked everything out, they would bring in some water. ...and that is when my mom went all "Terms of Endearment" on their asses. I sat with Lucy as my mom stormed down to the nurses station. I could hear my mom as she told those nurses that Lucy was dying. That she was going to die no matter what. She was going to die with water and she was going to die without water. And the least they could do was to make her comfortable for the little time she had left. And my mom came waltzing back into that room without saying a word but holding a cup of ice chips. If you have to die, you want my mom by your side.
So yeah, today I'm thankful for my mixed-up family ... the one with two moms and four little girls. I'm thankful forKaren Elizabeth Kalberer and Kathryn K. Stepanski and Lucy. They are the best.

Day 13 ... so many, many things to be thankful for. I won't fit them all into November.
Today I'll be thankful for my mom and my sister, because so far I haven't been. (wait, maybe I worded that wrong.)

Anyway: My mom sacrificed so much for me and Kristi, much of which I probably will never know, but I know she did. We were dirt poor growing up, but we always had what we needed. We didn't ha

ve much, but we were happy. And one thing I will always say about living in apartments is that (a) you always had other kids to play with, and (b) you always had a pool. I didn't know it at the time, but I now know just how much my mother struggled. We didn't often go to church (my mom didn't drive), but we always had God. We always had our devotions. (Eden now has our devotional book) And .... the worst thing my mom did (OK, not really) was she taught us honesty and integrity. Our inside joke, between Kristi and me, is that our mom raised us so honest, that we can't tell a lie. Even now, can't do it.
Not sure how many of y'all know Kathleen Madigan, but she is a comedian. She talks about her sister and describes her sister as a blonde labrador retriever. Perpetually happy. That is my sister. Kristi holds a great deal of pain inside, but few ever see it. She chooses to see the blessings in life. She chooses to be happy. No matter what her circumstances, her glass is ALWAYS half full. always.

So today, and everyday, I'm thankful for our little family of three .... because when I look back on my childhood, it was the three of us. (and Karen and Kathryn and Lucy; maybe they'll be tomorrow)

Never Give Up ... (part 2)

When the going gets tough ....

We've all heard it.  And honestly, this is where the rubber meets the road.

When it gets hard, do we pick up our ball and go home?  Or ... do we contine on?  Working harder.  Striving farther.  Dreaming bigger.

How we act and react when the going gets tough will determine where we end.

I had the sheer delight of meeting Cindy Williams, National Sales Director a few weeks ago.  She came to our unit meeting.  It was a small, cozy and intimate affair.  Cindy mingled among us and talked to each of us personally.  She shared her stories with us, and she wanted to hear ours.  She wanted to know us and our dreams.  (She wanted to know ME and MY dreams.)  Here is a woman who has reached the top, and she came to encourage all of us that if she did it, so can we...........

Cindy shared so much with us, but one thing that absolutely caught my attention was that quite often, Cindy would smile, wink and say, "Look at me.  I didn't quit."

I'm not going to tell Cindy's Mary Kay story; it's hers to tell.  But I will say just a few things.  Cindy knew NOTHING about make-up when she began her adventure; she didn't wear any.  Cindy borrowed the money for her starter kit from her mother, because she didn't want to explain to her husband that she had just spent $100.00 to sell make-up.  Cindy did not start her business with many people supporting her.  In reality, those closest to her thought she was making a HUGE mistake.  She could barely get her own sisters to try Mary Kay.  Fast Forward.... Cindy has now made over $2 million in her Mary Kay business ...... and look at her.  She didn't quit.

Cindy took off all of her jewelry, jewelry she had been awarded by Mary Kay, and passed her diamonds around the room.  She was too cute.  As she took off each piece of jewelry, she tried to tell us the carat weight of that particular piece, but she honestly couldn't remember them all.  She would look at the piece and just say, "Lots.  This one has lots of diamonds...."  And they did.  And they were beautiful.  And they were gifts given to her by Mary Kay because of all the work Cindy had put into her own business.  The funny thing is, and Cindy reminded us of this, we do not work for Mary Kay.  We work for ourselves.  ...but Mary Kay rewards us and treats us as though we work for them.

Cindy drives a pink Escalade.  I cannot now remember how many pink cadillacs she has driven in her Mary Kay career ..... but it's been lots.

Cindy travels the world.  Her trips are all courtesy of Mary Kay.

Now....... think about this.  Cindy has made over $2 million.  Her monthly commission checks these days average $50,000.00, and Cindy has no reason to spend that money on cars, jewelry or trips.  Those little luxuries are either given to her or paid for by Mary Kay.  Seriously, what a deal!!!

And look at her.  She didn't quit.

Never Give Up.... (part 1)

One of the best things we can do for ourselves is run our own business.  When one owns her own business, she makes her own hours and works at her own pace.  However, it takes commitment and responsibility.  One can be the best boss she has ever had, but she can also be the worst.  One can be the best employee she has ever had, but she can also be the worst.  The amount of money one makes and the "luck" one has in her company depends on many factors, the main one being how much time and effort she puts into her company.

OK, I realize that paragraph is a bit obvious and a bit boring, but it seques into my blog post.

I absolutely LOVE my Mary Kay business.  I am amazed by this line of skin care products.  The make-up is always on trend and offers up something for everyone; don't get me started on how fabulous the ultimate mascara is...  We have everything from suntan lotion to lip gloss to foot fizzies and so so much in between.

It amazes me how some people have the wrong idea about Mary Kay.  I have been told on numerous occassions, "I don't wear make-up".  Mary Kay is so much more than make-up.  Mary Kay began this business with her skin care products.  Even if you wear absolutely zero make-up, you do have a face.  God-willing you will carry that face with you for a long, long time.  You should do everything you can to take care of that face.  Mary Kay has a complete list of products that will do everything from cleansing to exfoliating to renewing your face ... and we have a skin care line for every skin type, including the most senstitive.

I am also equally amazed by the women who think we are ONLY make-up and don't know about our skin care line.

I guess many of us consultants are not getting the word out, and I do NOT want to be one of those consultants.  I want people to know about ALL of our amazing products.  I do not want to sell anything to anyone that she does not need.  But at the same time, if she does need it, I want her to be aware of it and be using it.

That being said, this company offers a COMPLETE line of skin care products (yes, we have bath washes and scrubs and even suntan lotion.)  Mary Kay is about your SKIN ... not just your face.  And we also carry a full line of make-up products including brushes, applicators and compacts.

I absolutely LOVE my Mary Kay business.  Mary Kay built this company on the concept of women helping women.  Most know that she started this company for women.  A company where women could make all of their dreams come true.  Nothing would hold them back .... except themselves.  Most everyone in this company is so friendly and so helpful.  If I have a problem, I get help immediately.  My help comes directly from the Mary Kay offices in Dallas, through my Director and through sister consultants.  One of the things I so love about this company is that the only way a woman moves up in this company is by helping other women.  period.  The more you help others, the more you move up.  The more you help others, the more money you make.  Mary Kay founded this company on the Golden Rule, and good consultants do everything they can to always adhere to that concept.  Hurting others will only hurt yourself in the long run.  In helping others, you will be helping yourself.

(As Cindy Williams NSD told, we are not "catty" women, but rather we are "caddy"lac women.)

I absolutely LOVE my Mary Kay business.  I believed in Mary Kay before I ever signed up to do this, or I would never have signed up.  I'm sure there are some sales people in the world selling products they do not believe in, but I think that is sad.  How can one do a good job selling unless one completely believes in their product?   Mary Kay tells us that many people look down on sales people, and yet everybody buys.  Everyone is putting something on their face.  Even if it is only soap and water, everyone is putting something on their face.  Why not invest in great skin care products?  So, I've believed in this company from the beginning, but I did not believe in myself.  It took me a long time to believe in ME.  My director, Beth Lange, has had little exercises all along the way to push me and nudge me along into doing a bit more here and a bit more there.  She would always ask what it was that I wanted to get out of each particular exercise, and my reply would always be the same.  Confidence.  That's what I wanted.  Confidence.

Oh when I first started this endeavor, I was so bad.  I probably came off as pushy to some and introverted to others.  I really had no idea how to go about sharing this with other women.  I LOVE Mary Kay.  I love it so much I want to share it with everyone I know.  If it were up to me, every woman would be using nothing but Mary Kay.  Not because that would make me more money, which it would, but that is not my reason.  My reason is because this is such a phenomenal product and every product does exactly what it claims .... or more.  If I sometimes come off as pushy, I am sorry, it's just because I am so enthusiastic and passionate about my Mary Kay.  I want to share it, so that others can also reap the rewards and benefits of such an amazing company and product.  I'm still not always sure of the 'best' way to go about selling.  I am not a natural born salesperson.  I'm just a woman who has an amazing product that she wants to share.  I love people.  I want to help people.  And I want to help women look and feel their very best.  I want to help give women confidence.  I want to help women achieve their dreams.  I want to help.

April 19th...continued

So.......... my customer wasn't home.

This happens.  I honestly don't know whether I should be upset with her ... or worried about her.  For now, I'll do neither.  I talked to her last night, and she sounded happy and excited.  I show up at her door today, and nothing.  I text and nothing.  I call and nothing.  hmmmmm.
Is she avoiding me or did something come up?

but I know it happens.  I've talked with other MK women, and I know it happens.  Months ago, I would have taken this personally.  Not any more.

for now, I have other things to do.  other people for whom to care.  I'll talk with her later, and I'll find out what happened.  or maybe I won't.  but I know I'm where I'm supposed to be;  doing what I'm supposed to do.  God is in control, and I'm just doing my small little part in my small little life.

life is so good ...... God is so great ... and I am one happy, happy woman!!

April 19th...

One year ago today, I started my Mary Kay business.
It's been a wild ride.  I wish I would have written more often about this journey.

I have grown.  I have learned.  I have had fun.

I've learned so much about this company.  I absolutely LOVE Mary Kay Ash and all her company stands for.
I've learned so much about these products.  I have not found one product that has not done what it claims to do.  I have not found one product that I have not fallen in love with.  I always think I have a favorite, but then I try something new.  I cannot believe that every woman is not using these amazing products.
I've learned so much about other women.  I am cherishing new friendships.
I've learned so much about myself.  I am growing.  I am working on becoming who God intends for me to be.

I have grown.  I've come out of my 'comfort zone' on more than one occassion, and my comfort zone is now forever changing.  I'm loving it.

I have had fun.  I can look back over the year and see where I made mistakes.  What I did wrong.  But even with that, I learned.  Many times I learned what does not work, but I did learn!!  I've met amazing women.  I've laughed.  Seriously though .... the most amazing feeling is just meeting women and helping them.  Helping them find what works for them.  Helping them feel good about their skin....about their make-up.  About themselves.

Oh, I could say so much more ...... but I have a customer waiting, and I must get out the door.

Last year, I learned.  This year, I SOAR!!!

now I understand....

why so many people do keep diaries, journals, blogs, etc.

I knew it had been a while since I had last written.  I did not realize how long it had been.  wow.
I went back and read this entire thing from the last post to the first, and I enjoyed all of it.  Much of it I had forgotten, but as I read, I was taken back to each and every place with each and every person or animal.  Reading my own words, it was all so clear.

Fred and I lost contact, so I also lost contact with Sailor.  At the beginning of 2011, I was raising my rates; Fred did not take it well.  I was walking through the grocery store, frozen food section, when Fred last called me.  He was not at all particularly nice or understanding.  I hated that our last phone conversation did not go well, but I had to do what was best for me, and Fred had to do what was best for him.  Last I knew, he wanted to sell his place in Mesilla and move to Belize.  He was in the process of buying a sail boat, and, of course, Sailor would go with him...........  he invited me along as well, but that was before our last conversation.

I cannot believe that I never wrote about Sam's dying.  How I was alone in the house.  Mark was in Houston with family at the Memorial Service for his niece.  Mark and I had been fighting, and I was not happy.  I did not want to talk with him, but as I was home alone, someone began knocking on our door.  Late at night.  It scared me.  I called Mark.  Not that there was anything he could do from so far away, but who else was I going to call when I was scared?  Eventually the knocking stopped and whoever it was went away.  Just after that, I got a text from Sam's daughter telling me that Sam had died.  Initially I thought it was her who had been at my door, but no, she was in Florida.  She'd gone to Sam .... sadly she got there after he died.  I spent the next day or two snuggled up in a blanket in my recliner being sad.  I didn't cry much.  Sam had a great life.  He was lonely.  He missed his wife.  He was ready to go.  ...but I was still so sad.  I went to Sam's old apartment complex to inform the people there that Sam had died.  I didn't know if they had been told yet.  They had not.  I do know I cried as I gave them his news.  I loved Sam, and even though he played a very small part in my life and me in his, it was a time when we both needed one another.

This picture was taken the last time I saw Sam.  He would be leaving for Florida quite early the next morning.  I'm smiling in the picture, but I was crying as I walked away.  I'm crying now.

Mark and I did move to Texas.  We got our house.  It was not easy.  We had to jump through quite a few hoops to get approved for a loan (Mark still owns a home in Las Cruces .... anyone looking to buy???), so in the end, we came up with the cash for our home.  It strapped our savings, but hopefully we can slowly build that back up.  We moved in early November, but we are still getting settled and unpacking boxes.  I asked Mark if anyone else takes this long to unpack.  sheeeesh.  We've been doing some fixing up and some redecorating which is why it's taking so long.  Phase I is complete.  There are a few more phases to go, but for now, we want to enjoy the spring and the summer.  We're doing most of the work ourselves.  (OK, Mark is doing most of the work himself, but I attempt to help....)  Mark is a LOT busier at work here than he was New Mexico.  He used to have some free time at work where he could get things done.  Catch up on a few personal things here and there.  But now he's so busy with actual work that his personal life has to wait until his personal time.  Go figure.  Thankfully, Mark loves what he does.

Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of when I started my own Mary Kay business.  I can't say that I have done great, but I have learned.  I've learned so much about this company and this adventure.  (I still refuse to call it a job.)  I still love it, and I hope to love it more and more as time passes.  I'm one of those people who thinks I have the best "job" in the world.  I meet women.  I talk with women.  I share with women.  I help them to feel more beautiful.  I help them to find the products that are just right for them; for their skin, for their coloring.  And......... I get paid for it.  I get paid to visit, share and help women.  Seriously, there are probably other jobs that are as good, but I can't think of any jobs that are better.  I'm ready to kick it up a notch, though.  As a friend said to me recently, "OK, so you've trained for a year.  Now get to work!"  I DO want that pink cadillac.
